Meet Dr Cory
Gentle Guidance. Clinical Expertise. Heartfelt Compassion.
Hello, I’m Dr. Cory Korsgen — founder of Dr. Cory’s Guiding Light and a veterinarian devoted to helping families say goodbye with peace, love, and dignity.
Throughout my years in veterinary medicine, I’ve seen the difference it makes when a beloved pet can pass away in the comfort of home, surrounded by the people who love them most. That’s why I chose to dedicate my work entirely to in-home pet euthanasia and end-of-life support for families throughout Bergen County and Northern New Jersey.
I’m a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV) through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, and a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian (CPEV) through CAETA. These certifications reflect my ongoing commitment to providing not only medical expertise, but emotional support and clarity during one of life’s most tender moments.
I believe that saying goodbye to a pet should never feel rushed or clinical. It should feel personal, sacred, and filled with love. Whether we’re gently discussing quality-of-life, guiding you through the process of in-home euthanasia, or helping you memorialize your pet afterward — I will walk with you every step of the way.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mom of three daughters, an animal lover at heart, and someone who finds deep purpose in helping people and pets find peace in life’s hardest moments.
Thank you for considering me to be part of your pet’s final journey. It’s truly an honor.

Quality of Life Assessments – Compassionate Support When You Need It Most
At Dr. Cory’s Guiding Light, we understand how emotionally overwhelming this time can be, and we’re here to help you make an informed, compassionate decision. A quality of life consultation offers thoughtful guidance for pet parents facing difficult questions about their pet’s comfort, health, and happiness. This visit allows us to spend time with you and your pet in the comfort of your home, observing their behavior, learning about their medical history, and discussing any changes you’ve noticed. You’ll have time to share your concerns, ask questions, and gain clarity without pressure or judgment.
More than a checklist — it’s a conversation.
We take a holistic approach to each consultation, considering not just pain levels or appetite, but also the little things that bring your pet joy — like following you from room to room, greeting you at the door, or curling up in their favorite spot. These moments matter. Together, we’ll explore whether their current challenges are manageable, whether their days still hold meaning, and whether interventions may improve or prolong their comfort.

Support for whatever decision lies ahead.
Our goal is never to rush the process, but to give you peace of mind and compassionate, professional insight. Whether it’s time to prepare for a gentle goodbye or continue supporting your pet through palliative care, you’ll leave the consultation with a better understanding of your pet’s needs and what comes next. Whatever path you choose, we’re here to walk it with you.
